About Us

Fire Defence was founded in 1997 by Lynne McCabe, or Lynne Gibson as early clients may remember!

Lynne studied a Bachelor of Science Degree at Queens and had hoped for a career in sales and marketing, however in the Agribusiness world not Fire Protection!

However after a job with a Dublin based Fire Protection company and relevant training through the British Fire Consortium in England, Fire Defence was set up. For seven years all quotes, fitting, servicing and book keeping was carried out by Lynne. At conception it was decided the business would involve not just the sales of fire extinguishers but also Health and Safety signage and First Aid Supplies.

Fire Defence first began to expand in 2004 with 6 service engineers joining the team over the next three years. Today in 2008 there are currently 6 full time service engineers and 3 full time office staff

Jonathan McCabe became a partner in the business in October 2006 and has overseen the development of the PAT Testing side of the business. Lynne’s role has evolved several times and she now deals with securing contracts throughout Ireland for national chain stores and multinational businesses. However the company’s development has always been based on concentrating on a lot of small customers rather than a few very large ones.

Fire Defence are currently working towards ISO9001 and BAFE registration and have implemented a management system that enables us to have information per client such as a location list of extinguishers and a full service history to be logged per site. In Jan 2008 we have appointed an IT company to design and implement a hand held PDA system that allows work to be logged per site straight on to the main system per visit. The engineers can also then print invoices and certificates on site. This is all linked to both the account package in the office and the clients database. We believe we will be the first fire company in Ireland to have implemented this system and indeed plan to help our IT company market the system which will be especially designed for the fire trade, throughout the Ireland and the UK..
